Final PG job numbers released by Stats Canada

Stats Canada released the final job numbers for 2015 in Prince George.

Labour Division Analyst, Vince Ferrao says the city’s unemployment saw an increase over the past year.

“2015 ended with an unemployment rate of 6.2% and this compares with 4.1% a year ago.”

Ferrao adds the amount of people working also took a hit.

“47,200 people were working this December compared to 51,400 a year ago which is a bit down in terms of the amount of residents employed.”

BC ended the year with a jobless rate of 6.7% but saw over 2.33 million people employed which is an increase of 50,000.

The national jobless rate at the end of 2015 finished up at 7.1%.
