St. John Ambulance in PG trying to raise money for new vehicle

Fundraising efforts continue for a new emergency vehicle for St. John Ambulance in Prince George.

Divisional Logistics Officer, Josh Pollard says a few donations have come in but a lot more are needed.

“We have a few thousand dollars that is marked from fundraising so we had some donations come from places like Westjet and some other companies have indicated they would like to make donations.”

Pollard adds fundraising efforts got off to a slow start in 2015 due to the Canada Winter Games.

The organization will meet with city hall to explore possible funding avenues for the new ambulance.

St. John wanted to purchase an 18 thousand dollar decommissioned ambulance but felt with the weather in the winter and summer months that would not be ideal.

A newer emergency vehicle can cost upwards of 150 thousand dollars.
