In the next few days, owners of more than 245,000 properties throughout northern British Columbia will receive their 2016 assessment notices.
The vast majority of home owners in Northern BC can expect a value increase of up to 10% for their Single Family Dwelling as of July 1.
Deputy Assessor with BC Assessment, David Keough says property owners in Prince George can expect a modest increase.
“So compared to 2015 for the Prince George area market values for the average home sat at $254,000. We now have seen a 6% increase to make the value $268,000 based on market transactions in the area.”
Overall assessments in Northern BC increased from $57.3 billion in 2015 to $59.5 billion this year.
Most communities in the region saw an increase with the exception of Tumbler Ridge, Kitimat, Fraser Lake and Granisle.
