The Labour Relations Board has ruled the government’s 10% wage cut to teachers’ salaries during rotating strikes is not illegal and can continue.
Vice-chair Richard Longpre also says the Employer’s lockout is not illegal
BC Teacher Federation President Jim Iker held a news conference to announce that teachers will be asked to vote on their next stage of job action.
Teachers will cast ballots on Monday June 9th and Tuesday June 10th.
The ballot will ask teachers to approve escalation up to and including full withdrawal of services.
Iker says the BCTF will also look at it’s legal options in response to the LRB decision.
