The Nanaimo Clippers cruised to a 5-2 over the Prince George Spruce Kings tonight (Fri) from the Coliseum.
Prince George would open the scoring less than three minutes in when Parker Colley beat Clippers goalie Evan Johnson on a breakaway to make it 1-0.
The lead would last only 11 seconds when Matthew Hoover would tap home a Devin Brosseau feed to make it 1-1.
Nanaimo would take the lead and chase starter Liam McCloskey from the game after Sheldon Rempal scored off the inside of the post for the 2-1 advantage.
In the second Nanaimo would extend the lead to 3-1 when Hoover netted his second of the game past Sam Tanguay.
The Spruce Kings would cut the deficit back down to one after a great effort from Kyle Johnson to make it 3-2 after 40 minutes.
The Clippers would pour it on in the third as Matthew Hoover scored his third of the game followed by a Chris Dodero marker.
Sam Tanguay made 38 saves in relief for the Spruce Kings.
Prince George remains 10 points back of Coquitlam for the final playoff spot in the Mainland Division.
Next action is on Thursday and Friday when the Spruce Kings host the Chilliwack Chiefs at 7pm from the Coliseum.
