Power back on in College Heights

Update: Power has been restored in the College Heights area.

Spokesman Bob Gammer says the mass outage was caused by a bird in the Beaverly sub station.

Around 30 customers are still without power in PG due downed wires unrelated to this morning’s outage.

BC Hydro is reporting an outage in the College Heights area to Beaverly is affecting over 5300, including Wal-Mart.

There are two outages reported, one from North of  Beechwood Road, West of Willow Cale Road, South of 22nd Ave. 

The other is South of Ospika Blvd. West of Creekside Way.

Hydro spokesman Bob Gammer says crews are repairing a substation in the Beaverly area and the initial estimate for power to return is around 1 p.m., but that’s subject to change.

Several residents on the 400 Block of Kodiak St. are also experiencing an outage due to a downed wire.
