Charges laid against alleged drug dealers

Two men have been charged in connection to violent incidents in the local drug trade.

On October 29th, members of the RCMP Street Crew Unit arrested 24-year-old Ryan Watt and and a second man just off of Highway 97.

The arrests were part of an ongoing investigation, and police were able to seize a sizeable amount of heroin and cash.

After the arrests, RCMP received a warrant to search a house on Leland Road, resulting in the discovery of a .22 calibre semi-automatic rifle, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and a ‘significant’ amount of meth and cocaine.

As a result of that investigation, Watt was faced with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for purpose of trafficking, possession of a firearm while prohibited, and four counts of possessing ammunition while prohibited.

The man with him wasn’t charged at the time, but through further investigation, police came to the conclusion that 24-year-old Colin Durrand and Watt were involved with violent incidents within the local drug trade.

Police say the alleged offences happened in Prince George between last August and as recently as November 21st.

Watt and Durrand now face charges of forcible confinement, pointing a firearm, two counts of assault, aggravated assault, and uttering threats, (Watt: 3 counts, Durrand: 2 counts).

The men will be held in custody until their next court appearance on December 9th, 2015.
