Prince George’s job vacancy rate is 3.2 percent according to Stats Canada’s latest study.
Labour Market Analyst, Elton Cryderman says the vast majority of available jobs are in one sector.
“The most common job vacancy was in sales and services and this includes jobs like food counter attendants, retail sales people, chefs and cooks as well as supervisors.”
Cryderman adds for the first time ever in this study they were able to tie in the hourly wage.
“Nationally that figure was $18.80 an hour on average. In BC it was similar to that at $18.00 an hour while the Prince George-Cariboo area was $19.15 an hour on average.”
BC currently has 66,500 job vacancies which ranks below Ontario, Alberta and Quebec.
The provincial job vacancy rate is slightly higher at 3.3%.
