The City of Prince George and Tourism PG is rolling out a new community events grant program.
$60,000 is being set aside for events that create civic pride in the months of February and July.
Civic Events Coordinator Jen Tkachuk says they are focusing the funding on two months because of how residents reacted to the Canada Winter Games and Summer Centennial.
“It really changed the atmosphere. By having everything condensed and brought together it just changes the vibe and makes Prince George a really exciting place. It also makes it easier to be able to market to out of town visitors.”
She says events being held in Lheidli Tenneh Memorial Park, Canada Games Plaza, Veterans Plaza in front of City Hall and the future WIDC Park will get preferential access to the grant money.
The City of Prince George is holding a grant information session on December 3rd 11:30-1:30 at City Hall. Information will be available on other city grants as well.
