Student sit-in protests teacher / province dispute

Some students in Prince George are holding a sit-in, protesting the dispute between the province and teachers’ union. Organizer and Kelly Road Secondary student Amanda Tomm says they will be staying in the school until something changes.

She says the sit-ins will continue every two days from Monday, until a deal is reached.

Tomm isn’t taking any sides, but says she’s tired of being caught in the middle.

Speaking on the effect the lockouts and strike action has had on her studies, she admits she had to drop a class she wasn’t doing well in, because she knew there wouldn’t be any extra help for her in the immediate future.

Prince George schools will be under the second round of strike-action Tuesday.
