Trial date set for chainsaw wielding Prince George man

A trial date has been set for a Prince George man who is accused of threatening some police officers in Deka Lake with a chainsaw.

Brandt Miller will appear in Supreme Court in Williams Lake on June 13th.

He is facing numerous counts including Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Assaulting a Police Officer and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.

100 Mile House RCMP were called out to what was described as an assault in progress back in July.

Police say members of the Deka Lake Fire Department asked a man to put a campfire out due to a province-wide ban but say he instead became abusive and tried to steal their fire truck.

The firefighters were apparently able to prevent that from happening but police say the man then assaulted them.

RCMP say the man, once they arrived, then grabbed a chainsaw, started it up and used it in a threatening manner.

Police say the suspect was eventually subdued with pepper spray.

Two officers and two firefighters suffered minor injuries during this alleged incident.
