The City of Prince George has covered a lot of ground in 2015.
On Monday night, city staff reported Prince George’s Road Rehabilitation Program repaved 10% of the streets in the city this year. The repairs cost the city seven million dollars.
“Keep in mind that’s just this year” said Mayor Lyn Hall. “If in 2016 we’re able to get to 10 or 15 percent of the roads, by the end of next year we could have 25% of our roads redone.”
The city also spent $650,000 on sidewalk upgrades, including 27 new wheelchair ramps to improve accessibility for seniors in the city.
“We have quite a seniors population that expects us to do something with sidewalks so that they can get around” said Hall.
The city repaired 65 kilometres of road this year and 1.5 KM of sidewalk.
