Summer in Prince George is expected to be warmer than normal.
Environment Canada’s Doug Lundquist says the warm water of the ocean is helping our area stay above average.
“We’re expecting it to actually be above average for temperature. The main reason for that is because the waters of the Pacific just offshore are really warm right now – way above average – and our flow usually comes from that direction.”
Lundquist says last month was dry for Prince George, as we only received 18mm of rain compared to the average of 49mm.
The warmest day of the month was May 12th when we hit 21 degrees, while the coldest was May 5th when it dipped down to minus 5.
