The PG Cougars are back in the win column after a 4-2 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings.
After falling behind 2-0 midway through the second period, Jansen Harkins got the cats on the board, with Jesse Gabrielle tying the game, and Chase Witala adding two more.
This marks the first time the cats came back for the win when trailing after two periods, and head coach Mark Holick says the team’s experience is starting to pay off.
“We’ve been down before and got close, been able to take it to overtime but lost,” reflects head coach Mark Holick. “At the end of the day I thought, not only being down two-nothing, but being down after 40 minutes, it’s tough to get points in the this league when you’re in that position. Teams buckle down and get on top of you, but our powerplay goal was huge.”
New acquisition Nick McBride is expected to get the start after Ty Edmonds left last night’s game with an apparent lower-body injury.
“We told him he was going to get a game this weekend anyway with the three in a row, now he’s probably getting two and a half,” added Holick. “He did just fine. Sometimes when you come in to cover a guy on injury there’s no time to really get prepared and you start to over think. He did a great job.”
The Cougs and the Oil Kings are back at tonight at seven.
