UPDATE Northern Health believes the issue should be resolved by tomorrow.
The University Hospital of Northern BC is trying to find the cause of some sporadic power outages.
Shortly after 9 AM, staff reported power failure in elevators and the Northern Health Network during routine testing, and spokesperson Jonathon Dyck says issues with the network appear to be region-wide.
“It’s our phones, computers, emails that have been affected region-wide, but as far as the power issue goes, it’s only at UHNBC. We’re working on the situation, the hospital lights are still on, but we’re encouraging people to avoid the hospital at this time unless it’s an emergency situation.”
The hospital has cancelled all elective surgical procedures for the day.
There is no word on what has caused the sporadic power failures, or when the issue will be fixed.
