The YMCA of Northern BC has been recognized for its child care services from the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
The organization has received awards for excellence in providing service innovation and their director of child care services has noticed as a emerging leader in the field.
Award Recipient Lynette Mikalishen says in the last five years they have grown their child care by about 40%.
Mikalishen says this allows for children of multiple ages to be cared for at the same site.
Currently the Y cares for about 400 children.
