Hall: Lombardy cleanup “60-70% down the road”

Clean-up at the Lombardy Trailer Park is still chugging along.

In early July, Council issued remedial action orders, saying the park had to be cleaned up by July 21st, at which time the City would move in and carry out the work themselves.

There were 52 remedial action orders against the park, calling for the complete destruction of 16 trailers.

With a request for a deadline extension shot down weeks later, the City hired an independent contractor at the end of August.

“As they do that work, we go in and do inspections, tell them that there’s deficiencies here and there that they need to pick up on,” says Mayor Lynn Hall, “Staff have been working really diligently on that. We knew it would be a long process. There’s a lot of work to do in there.”

The cost of the contractors will be billed back to the Lombardy Ownership Group through increased property taxes.

Though hopefully, this won’t be going on much longer.

“If I had to put a number on it I’d say we’re 60-70% down the road to having it done,” adds Hall. “Obviously, we’d like it done tomorrow, but they’re picking away at it, and it’s getting done.”
