Tanguay stands tall for Spruce Kings

It took four games but the Prince George Spruce Kings finally solved Chase Perry.

The Spruce Kings upset the Wenatchee Wild 3-2 tonight (Fri) in BCHL action.

Bryan Basilico put the home team on the board late in the first putting one past the Wild goaltender to give Prince George a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Wenatchee would tie things up early in the second after Dakota Raabe put home a Mike Coyne feed to tie it at 1.

A minute later the Spruce Kings would re-take the lead courtesy of a nice wrist shot from the point by Adam Brubacher to give Prince George the 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.

The Wild would pepper goalie Sam Tanguay in the third and tie things up off the stick of Joseph Drabin.

With less than five minutes left affiliate player Dante Raposo would score a highlight reel goal to put the Spruce Kings ahead for good.

Both Raposo and 16 year old defender Austin Crossley played both games after being called up from the Kamloops Junior B Storm.

Sam Tanguay made 27 saves in the win where no penalties were called the entire game.

Prince George improves to 5-12-0-1 and will be on the island next week starting on Friday against the Powell River Kings.
