Provincial government scrapping consumer Carbon Tax April 1st

The B-C government says it will introduce legislation next week to completely eliminate the consumer carbon tax as of Tuesday (April 1st).

An increase in the tax had been suspended following the federal government’s announcement that its version would be discontinued on that date.

But the pending bill will now see the levy cancelled entirely.

Provincial officials say they expect retailers of gasoline, propane, and natural gas to make “every effort” to ensure their customers aren’t charged the carbon tax as of the first of the month.
