Prince George City Council confirmed this year’s grant recipients for the 2025 intake of the limited duration operating grant funding at last night’s (Monday) meeting.
These grants provide funding for up to two years for registered not-for-profits towards overall operating costs.
In total, 13 organizations are receiving a share of $121,576.
These decisions were originally made at a Committee of the Whole meeting on March 5th.
The full list of recipients is here.
Director of Civic Facilities and Events Andy Beesley said administration would take a look at what the $20,000 that was allocated for the Exploration Place could be used for at another Committee of the Whole meeting.
“It’s not quite as easy as just going back and reallocating the money because you’d have to go for adjudication fairness,” he explained.
This is the first time the City has issued this grant in this manner, after the City updated the granting program last year.
With it being the first time, Beesley also noted they are looking to streamline the process and will be bringing back suggestions.
The recipients were confirmed with a 7-2 vote, with Mayor Simon Yu and Councillor Garth Frizzell voting against.
