UPDATE: Highway 97 collision near Summit Lake claims a life

One person has died following a two-vehicle on Highway 97 near Summit Lake Road, 50 kilometres north Prince George.

According to the Prince George RCMP, the incident occurred just after 9:30 this morning (Monday) and when emergency crews attended the scene, they found a vehicle crossed the centre line and collided with a logging truck.

The BC Coroners Service attended the scene and Highway 97 was closed for several hours while the investigation was on-going.

The highway has since re-opened to traffic.

Traffic is flowing again along Highway 97 north of PG.

This after a motor vehicle incident this morning (Monday) near Summit Lake just after 9:30 according to the RCMP.

Emergency Services attended the call and were on scene for several hours.

The Prince George RCMP received a report of collision near the intersection of Highway 97 and Summit Lake Road, approximately 50 kilometres north of
city limits at about 9:30 this morning (Monday).

Emergency Services are currently on scene and are expected to be for an as yet undetermined
amount of time.

An alternate route for smaller vehicles is expected to be available shortly. The route may not be
suitable for large trucks.

Further updates will be provided as they become available.

Highway 97 is closed at Summit Lake Road, north of PG due to a motor vehicle incident according to Drive BC.

A detour is in effect and motorists can expect delays.
