A lot is on the line for the Prince George Cougars as they hit the ice against the Victoria Royals tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday at CN Centre.
PG (40-20-4-2) is two points back of the Royals (39-17-3-7) for first place in the BC Division and need to win both in order to supplant their rivals from the provincial capital.
“The final weekend is always exciting whether it’s a single-game or back to back and having a double-header can be challenging at times but in this case, we have two games against Victoria and if we win those games, that will be huge,” said Taylor Dakers, Director of Business Operations.
“The playoff-type atmosphere is great, the amount of people in the building and the excitement is great. It is all meaningful.”
Victoria won a pair of road games against the Kamloops Blazers and Kelowna Rockets by identical 5-3 scores Tuesday and Wednesday to put themselves back in the driver’s seat.
Head-to-head this season, both teams have won three times each.
In addition, the weekend will feature a Riley Heidt Bobblehead Giveaway, a Mega 50/50 Jackpot, retro jerseys, and the “Jersey Off The Back” giveaway.
Heidt’s bobbleheads will be free for all season members, as well as the first 300 kids (aged 2-12) who are not season members through the doors on the Friday game.
The bobble heads can also be added to the ticket purchase at a 50 per cent discount.
Any remaining bobbleheads will be available in the Cougars Store for $30.
The final Mega 50/50 of the season will take place during the Saturday game with a guaranteed jackpot of $50,000. Proceeds will benefit the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.
In addition, the Cougars will be wearing specialty retro jerseys both nights and will be raffled off the player’s backs following Saturday’s game.
Puck drop is at 7pm on Friday, 6pm on Saturday.
Dakers noted the Cougars playoff BBQ and ticket pick up is slated for Tuesday night at the CN Centre Parking lot.
