WHL:

This is the last weekend of the WHL regular season.

The Prince George Cougars, who have won nine of their last 10 games, host the Victoria Royals tonight (Friday) at 7:00 and Saturday night at 6:00.

The (39-17-3-7) Royals lead the BC Division by two points over the (40-20-4-2) Cougars.

P.G. needs to win both games in order to finish first in the division.

Victoria needs just one win to take top spot.

Prince George has the fewest home regulation losses in the WHL (with a 23-4-3-2 record at CN Centre).

The Cougars start the playoffs at home on Friday, March 28th and Saturday, March 29th against either Portland, Vancouver or Tri-City.

BCHL:

The Prince George Spruce Kings visit the (26-17-5-2) Coquitlam Express tonight at 7:00, the (34-12-5) Chilliwack Chiefs Saturday night at 6:00 and the (29-17-4) Surrey Eagles Sunday afternoon at 3:00.

Prince George will close at home with a doubleheader against the (9-35-5-1) Powell River Kings March 29th and 30th.

The (19-25-4-1) Spruce Kings are four points behind the (19-22-8-1) Langley Rivermen for the 8th and final playoff spot in the BCHL Interior Conference.

Prince George has five regular season games left and Langley has four remaining.

The Rivermen visit (13-35-2) Blackfalds tonight and (17-27-6) Spruce Grove on Saturday before closing at home against Coquitlam March 28th and Chilliwack March 9th.

BC Elite Hockey League:

The bests-of-3 BC Elite Hockey League finals go this weekend.

The Under-18 Cariboo Cougars host the Okanagan Rockets at Kin 1 tonight at 7:45, Saturday night at 4:45 and if needed Sunday morning at 10:45.

The winner goes to Alberta for the Pacific playdowns April 4th-6th.

In the Female division, the U-18 Northern Capitals visit the Greater Vancouver Comets in Coquitlam this evening at 5:00, Saturday night at 5:45 and if needed Sunday afternoon at 1:00.

NHL: (14 Thursday games with all 7 Canadian teams in action)

The (32-25-12) Canucks, with just 13 games left, continue a 6-game road trip Saturday (10 AM) against the New York Rangers.

Vancouver is a point behind the (35-28-7) Blues for the 2nd and final wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

The (32-25-11) Calgary Flames are two back of St. Louis.

Alex Ovechkin scored for the Washington Capitals in a 3-2 (Thursday night) victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.

The 39-year-old Ovechkin is 7 goals away from breaking Wayne Gretzky’s NHL career record of 894.

Curling:

Defending champion Rachel Homan of Canada finished 3rd in the round robin with a 10-2 record at the world women’s curling championship in South Korea.

As the third seed, Canada gets a re-match against Scotland’s Team Sophie Jackson (7-5) tonight (Friday 6:00 PT) in the 3 vs. 6 qualifying game.

Scotland defeated Canada on opening weekend with an 8-7 victory.

The winner plays South Korea on Saturday at 3 a.m.

The final will go on Sunday (12:01 AM PDT).

NBA:

Golden State Warriors  117  Toronto Raptors  114

The (24-46) Toronto Raptors, with just 12 games remaining (5 home and 7 away), host the San Antonio Spurs Sunday at 3 PM.

Toronto is 5 1/2 games out of a play-in spot in the Eastern Conference.
