Road crews in Prince George have shifted into spring and are filling potholes.
Roads and Fleet Manager, Jordan Wiseman told MyPGNow.com it’s been a busy start.
“To date, we have filled approximately 250 potholes with roughly 167 requests and the majority of the crew now has shifted to flushing operations. We are sweeping and flushing sidewalks into the gutter pan.”
Wiseman added crews began street sweeping operations last night (Wednesday) with sidewalks being worked last week.
“We did have two sidewalk machines out with casting brooms getting on our pedestrian networks with the amount of people who are out enjoying the weather and utilizing our sidewalks.”
“And then we will be followed up by the loader brooms picking up the heavy portions on our priority one and two routes and then the sweepers will come behind and pick up the remainder and then we will be moving into residential.”
As for snow clearing operations, Wiseman noted not a lot more needs to be done as they wind down for the season.
“We have picked up a lot of the problem areas and ditch some of the areas that cause some issues if we get a really warm day, which it looks like we are going to hit plus 14.”
“Once the spring freshet happens and the snow starts to break free we want to make sure the travel corridors for the water have a place to go.”
