The B-C Nurses Union is calling for more protection for medical staff, following a serious assault on a nurse at the Langley Memorial Hospital this month.
Union president Adriane Gear says there are an average of 46 serious assaults against medical staff every month, that result in a time-loss claim to WorkSafeBC.
She adds that doesn’t include the countless other incidents being reported across the province.
Gear says more must be done to tone down violent behaviour towards medical personnel.
