The (30-24-11) Canucks and (30-23-11) Flames are tied for the 2nd and final wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

Vancouver will host the (20-36-9) Chicago Blackhawks Saturday night at 7:00.

Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals visit the LA Kings tonight at 7:30 in one of 9 Thursday games in the NHL.

The 39-year-old Ovechkin is 9 goals away from breaking Wayne Gretzky’s NHL career record of 894.

The (43-14-8) Caps have 17 regular season games left.

WHL:

The Prince George Cougars host the (23-33-7-1) Wenatchee Wild Friday and Saturday and the Victoria Royals on March 21st and 22nd to conclude their regular season schedule.

Wenatchee is coming off a 5-2 Wednesday victory in Kamloops to move the Wild within one point of the (25-32-4-1) Seattle Thunderbirds for the final Western Conference playoff spot.

(Wenatchee has four games remaining while Seattle has six left)

The (38-20-4-2) Cougars are tied with the (36-16-3-7) Royals for top spot in the B.C. Division but Victoria has two games in hand.

The Royals have six remaining, with one home game followed by five on the road.

Victoria will host Vancouver Friday and then play the Giants again Saturday in Langley.

The Royals visit Kamloops on Tuesday and Kelowna on Wednesday before playing a doubleheader in P.G. on March 21st and 22nd.

The Prince George Spruce Kings host the (29-18-1) Sherwood Park Crusaders Sunday afternoon at 3:00.

The (19-24-4-1) Spruce Kings are two points behind the (18-21-8-1) Langley Rivermen for the 8th and final playoff spot in the BCHL Interior Conference with both teams having six games remaining.

BC Elite Hockey League:

The BC Elite Hockey League best-of-3 semifinals go this weekend.

The Under-18 Cariboo Cougars host the Vancouver North West Hawks at Kin 1 Friday afternoon at 3:45, Saturday afternoon at 3:00 and, if needed, Sunday morning at 9:00.

The Under-18 Female Northern Capitals visit the Fraser Valley Rush in Langley Friday night at 6:15, Saturday afternoon at 1:30 and, if necessary, Sunday morning at 9:30.

Judo:

Carla Van Zyl of Prince George represented Canada in a two week European Judo Tour.

She finished with a 2-2 record in the under 21 Malaga Junior European Cup in Spain.

Her team then went to Portugal to compete in the Portimao Junior European Cup, where she captured a Bronze medal.

Toronto Raptors  118  Philadelphia 76’ers  105

The (23-43) Raptors start a 4-game road trip Friday night at 6:30 against the Jazz in Utah.

Toronto, with just 16 games left, is 4 1/2 games behind the Chicago Bulls for the final play-in spot in the Eastern Conference.
