The Prince George Public Library launched its Seed Library Program for the fifth year.
During the opening hours of both library branches, the program encourages residents to take part in the time-honoured tradition of seed saving, fostering community resilience and self-reliance.
The program, in collaboration with the David Douglas Botanical Garden Society and the Prince George Master Gardeners provides vegetable, flower, and herb seeds at no cost to the borrower.
Residents are able to borrow up to five packets, containing 5 to 20 seeds to grow and, if possible, return some seeds in the fall.
The seed library will be accessible until June 30th, or while supplies last at both library branches.
In 2024, the library distributed 1,050 seed packages, anticipating greater participation this year.
