Province orders removal of U.S. alcohol amid tariff threats

Premier David Eby has issued the removal of all American alcohol from the shelves at BCLIQUOR stores starting today.

That includes beer, wine, spirits, and refreshment beverages that stores carry various types of, which the BC Liquor Distribution Branch will no longer be purchasing.

Eby says this is in response to the escalating threats south of the boarder.

“Last week, we took ‘red state’ liquor off our shelves in a targeted move. In the face of ongoing threats, including to Canada’s dairy and lumber industries, we are expanding the list of targeted American products.”

Eby added while some may be upset by the decision, it’s an opportunity to sample Canadian products.

Legislation will be brought forward this week to address the unprecedented threats from the United States.
