The Prince George Cougars are back on top of the WHL’s BC Division after a 4-3 win over the Everett Silvertips.
It was the seventh win in a row for the Cougars, stunning the 8,249 at the Angel of the Winds Arena.
“You look at the roll we’ve been on lately, and you look at some of the games we’ve won, probably a month ago we don’t win those games,” said Cougars Assistant Coach Carter Rigby on the post-game show on 94.3 the Goat.
“Right now we’re really buying into details, the structure and the stuff that we’re putting in place as coaches, and it’s rewarding when it pays off like this.”
Rigby described the game like a playoff game.
“That’s it right there, you’ve got guys with half a body laying out, getting stitches every third shift, that’s the compete it takes as a group to win at this level,” he said.
“We’re going to need six more games of that and then four rounds of that too.”
Ben Riche struck twice in the win, tipping home a Corbin Vaughan shot, and taking a Jett Lajoie pass in the slot to score the eventual game winner.
