The BC Conservative Party is calling the 2025 provincial budget a stand pat, and do-nothing budget.
In a release, they highlight areas that have been missed by Premier David Eby and the NDP’s, while using economic growth numbers published before last year’s election.
“The Premier and the Minister of Finance could have easily taken the time to deliver a budget with substantial tariff relief,” said Conservative Finance Critic, Peter Milobar.
“Instead they pushed ahead with a hastily-arranged plan that provides nothing for the people of this province.”
The Conservative Party said the budget cancelled the $1,000 grocery rebate, increases the carbon tax, lacks a tariff relief and inter-provincial trade plan, and shows a record deficit of $10.9 billion.
Milobar pointed out that the carbon tax will see a hike of 3.3 cents a litre on April 1st, while putting sales tax on the price of used electric vehicles.
He said the Premier and his Finance Minister haven’t done the homework needed to be done.
