PG geared up for 9th Healthier You Expo

Prince George’s Healthier You is expo is back for its 9th year!

All Sunday, people can show up for a free flu shot and take in exhibitors, vendors, and a wide array of speakers.

“We’ve got Tim Hague, the winner of the Amazing Race Canada, and he’s a Parkinson’s Disease advocate,” says Event Manager Norm Coyne, “Every year we have a keynote speaker, and his presentation is called ‘Live your Best Day’, which is just a fabulous message for everyone no matter what your circumstance is.”

Also new this year, the YMCA will have an auditorium full of kid’s activities, including a scavenger hunt with two youth bikes up for grabs!

The old favourites are also back, and Coyne says the event seems to grow every year.

“There are a lot of people that come for the free flu shot, but in my experience, people are showing up to see what they can do differently to make their lives better. You don’t just have to go to a health fair for that, but I think everybody is kind of hungry to find out what changes they can make.”

There will be no shortage of variety on stage at the expo…

Sufey Chen will take the crowd through 4 varieties of yoga, CrossFit Darkstar will give people an inside look at the sport’s lifestyle, and Chelsea Gibson of Wild Rose Wellness and USANA Health Sciences will talk therapy and digestion.

The Salvation Army will also be on hand collecting non-perishable
items for a food drive, and those who donate will be entered to win tickets for two to fly to Victoria.

Entry is free of charge, and the expo runs from 10-4pm at the PG Civic Centre on Sunday, October 18.
