Aaron Vanderpool and his family will be sharing 20-second hugs for the third year in a row during Downtown Winterfest this Saturday.
This is in honour of their child Taraji, who passed away in 2022.
“I dedicate this event to my only child, Taraji,” Vanderpool said.
“The last night I saw them before they died, they gifted me with a big, long, perfect hug. I love them and will miss them for all my days. They were my world, and this world will never be the same without them.”
Vanderpool said he wants to share that gift. He added research shows the length of hugs matters more than the number received.
“20 second hugs can lift your mood, reduce your stress, and boost your happy hormones,” he said.
In addition, the event will include a memorial board to share photos of loved ones who have passed away.
