CN and Tree Canada have awarded ten cities with $50,000 grants for tree planting and greening projects, including the northern capital.
The grants are made possible through the CN EcoConnexions – From the Ground Up program that invests in community greening projects along CN’s rail network.
“CN is proud to partner with Tree Canada to award these community grants,” said CN Senior Vice-President and Chief Stakeholder Relations Officer Janet Drysdale.
“By creating greener, healthier spaces, we are fostering community engagement, improving local environments, and promoting social well-being. With Tree Canada’s expertise and community involvement, we are planting the seeds for a sustainable and vibrant future for all.”
In addition to Prince George, $50,000 grants are also going to:
- Halifax, NS
- Truro, NS
- Quebec, QC
- Longueuil, QC
- Guelph, ON
- Portage La Prairie, MB
- Saskatoon, SK
- Melville, SK
- Beaver Country, AB

CN has also funded 45 additional grants of $10,000, one of which is going to the District of Mackenzie.
