Canadian Hospitals to be scent free??

Canada’s top medical health journal is calling hospitals to ban perfumes and scented products.

Jonathan Dyck with Northern Health says a scent-free policy is already in place.

“All Northern Health sites, facilities and programs do have a scent and fragrance policy that staff, visitors and patients are required to abide by.”

Dyck adds scented products can play an adverse effect on both staff and patients.

“Their can be a chance adverse chemicals can create allergic reactions and sensitivities on workers, clients and visitors so the policy is in place to protect those people.”

Scented products include perfumes, after shaves, cologne’s as well as shaving creams and deodorants.

A third of people with asthma says the disease is made worse after being exposed to these products.
