Veterans Plaza in front of Prince George City Hall will be a winter wonderland Saturday, as Downtown Prince George is set to host Downtown Winterfest.
“We’ve been talking about that weather thing, we have no control over it, but it looks like we’ll have snow this year,” said Executive Director Colleen Van Mook.
“It really is a winter wonderland, I know that’s a bit overused, but we really like that location, it’s very central.”
The annual festival features a variety of activities and treats this year, such as games, crafts, and the winter playground.
“The cool thing is that we actually harvest our ice for our ice slide and our ice sculptures from Ness Lake, so that’s been a wonderful partnership where we work with them, we harvest it and bring it into town, and it’s magic because it becomes a winter playground.”
This year also features a Smores contest,
“I think what’s cool about the smore contest is that all of the proceeds go to the charity of choice for the people that are participating,” Van Mook said.
There will also be an outdoor food court and a pancake breakfast.
Downtown Winterfest starts at 11:00 am on Saturday (Feb. 15) and runs to 4:00 pm.
