Theatre NorthWest will be hosting a month long stage play beginning Thursday.
Steel Magnolias will turn the stage into a beauty salon set in a small Louisiana town, with enduring friendships and resilient spirits of a close-knit group of women.
This is Director, Melissa Glover’s second play at the Theatre, saying this is a tough show compared to her first one.
“We have a lot of varying experience levels in the cast, and I created it more with a collaboration from the actor, because they are the ones at the end of the day that have to perform the show.”
“In the rehearsal hall, we just sort of let things happen organically. Now we’re on stage. A lot of stuff is going to evolve in the next couple of days.”
The play name may ring a bell for some, as it’s also a film which released back in 1989, though Glover says people shouldn’t see the show with the movie in mind.
She added the play only takes place in the salon, making references to the movie, rather than a one for one.
The stage play will continue until March 5th, with matinee showtimes at 2:00, and an evening showing at 7:00.
