Kiwanis AleFest raises over $90,000 for the community

After making a big addition to the festival, the Kiwanis AleFest had its highest attendance and most money raised.

This year, a fourth tasting session was added for Friday afternoon, which Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Holly Keech says received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback.

Keech says with the extra tickets sold, they were able to raise just over $92,000.

“That money goes towards a variety of different children’s charities every year in the form of our annual grant program which we launch every April or May.”

“It also goes towards the Ronald McDonald House BC. Every year we sponsor a room for Ronald McDonald House for northern families.”

Keech added they had between 1,200 to 1,300 people attend the festival, surpassing last year’s of around 1,000.

She says planning for next year will begin in the coming months, and invites anyone with ideas on what they want to see next year to send them a message on their social media pages.

More information can be found on the Kiwanis AleFest website here.
