Late local photographer’s work on display ahead of Jeanne Clarke Local History Awards

The 40th Annual Jeanne Clarke Local History Awards ceremony is a couple weeks away, and is displaying the work of one of its winners.

The Prince George Public Library announced the late Chuck Chin would be honoured with the Service Award for his work to promote and preserve the history of the community.

Manager of Communications and Engagement, Larissa Clotildes talks about the display at the Bob Harkins Branch of the library.

“Anytime in the month of February, you’ll be able to see some select pieces of Chuck Chin’s photography on display in the stairwell in the Bob Harkins Branch of the library.”

“Some of these have been printed on canvas, and some of them are printed photos in frames.”

Clotildes adds if anyone in the community has a favourite piece or photo of Chuck Chin they’d like to share, to post on social media and tag the library, or email them to [email protected].

The event will be a much bigger than previous years, as it’s a milestone event, and will be at the PG Conference and Civic Centre instead of the library.

During the ceremony, the winner of the Publication Award will be announced, which is awarded to a publication or individual that made a significant contribution to local history.

Clotildes says it can be a biography, historical work, or an anthology.

The award ceremony will take place Sunday, February 23rd, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, with the RSVP form on their website here.
