Could a national pipeline solve Canada’s tariff threat?

Federal Energy Minister Jonathan Wilkinson says Ottawa and the provinces should consider building a cross-country oil pipeline, as one way to reduce the threat of tariffs from the United States.

Up to 75 per cent of our oil is shipped south of the border.

But in Canada, pipelines only run in the western provinces.

Ontario and Quebec are supplied by a pipeline that runs from Manitoba through the U-S, but there is no line to the Atlantic provinces.
