BC Hockey Hall of Fame:

Dan Hamhuis of Smithers, a part owner of the Prince George Cougars, will be inducted into the BC Hockey Hall of Fame this summer as part of the class of 2025.

The 42-year-old Hamhuis played four seasons with the P.G. Cougars before going on to a successful 16-season NHL career.

He starred as a defenseman, playing over 1,100 NHL games, with the Nashville Predators, Vancouver Canucks and Dallas Stars.

The ceremony is set for July 12th in Penticton.

 

WHL:

The (28-15-4-2) Prince Cougars visit the (16-27-4-1) Kelowna Rockets on Friday and the (18-26-4) Kamloops Blazers on Saturday.

The last place Rockets are riding an 8-game losing streak after they fell 5-2 Wednesday to the Victoria Royals.

Prince George is second in the BC Division, four points behind the (29-14-3-5) Royals with P.G. holding two games in hand.

The (13-20-3-1) Prince George Spruce Kings host the (21-12-2-2) Coquitlam Express Friday night at 7:00 and Saturday night at 6:00.

The Spruce Kings are eight points out of a playoff spot with 17 games remaining.

BC Elite Hockey League:

The first place Under-18 Cariboo Cougars play their next two games at the BC Elite Hockey League’s Showcase in Burnaby.

The (20-6-3-1) Cougars face the (17-12-1-1) Fraser Valley Thunderbirds Sunday afternoon at 4:00 and the (19-10-2-1) Okanagan Rockets Monday morning at 8:30.

Cariboo is in top spot by three points over the (20-9-0-1) Valley West Giants and the Rockets.

Canada West Basketball:

The UNBC Timberwolves, with just four games left in their Canada West Basketball season, visit the Trinity Western Spartans (TWU) Friday night (at 6:00 and 8:00) and Saturday night (at 4:00 and 6:00).

The UNBC women are 4-12 while the UNBC men sit 1-15.

The TWU men and women are both 8-8.

The Timberwolves play their final home games on Feb 14th and 15th against the UBC Thunderbirds.

NBA:

Memphis Grizzlies  138  Toronto Raptors 107

The (16-35) Raptors visit the NBA-leading (40-9) Oklahoma City Thunder Friday night at 5:00.

The Raptors have acquired forward Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans in return for Bruce Brown Jr, Kelly Olynyk, a 2026 first-round pick and a 2031 second-round pick.

NFL: 

The Kansas City Chiefs are slight 1.5-point favorites over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59 on Sunday in New Orleans.
