While the weather outside is frigid, music lovers in Prince George will be able to warm their souls during the five-day Coldsnap Music Festival that kicks off today (Wednesday).
Spokesperson, Katherine Benny told MyPGNow.com this year’s festival will have no shortage of Canadian flavour.
“We have musicians from across the country. We have bands coming from Cape Breton, from Ontario, the Prairies, the Lower Mainland and of course from closer to home to kick off the festival we have Reckless Burning.”
Benny added organizers wanted to experiment with something new in 2025.
“This year, we are experimenting with a more condensed format. In past years, we have been known to do a nine-day format that included nine days and nights of music, which had free to attend workshops. We are doing all of that same programming except we are doing a few extra things to attend during the day.”
“We are trying the new format to see what we think of it. If it adds more of a festival energy or if it’s maybe more sustainable for our team or maybe we will go back to a nine-day next year,” added Benny.
Performances will be taking place at the Knox Performance Centre or the Prince George Legion.
Benny adds the festival has garnered a good reputation from artists within the festival and touring world.
Acoustic in the Rounds, along with some other daytime events will be free to attend, similar to past years.
This year will also have two ticketed events for Coldsnap for Kids on Saturday and Sunday, expanding from the previous solo event.
The introduction of festival passes was the biggest change for this year, which Benny added has already sold out, and are looking forward to seeing how people enjoy using them.
