BC’s police watchdog has closed their investigation into a police-involved shooting in Mackenzie last June, which left one man deceased.
According to a report from the Independent Investigations Office of BC, no charges will be forwarded for consideration to crown council, clearing all officers of any potential wrongdoing.
At about 2:00pm on Saturday June 1st, the Mackenzie RCMP received a report of a man trying to cash a fraudulent cheque at a bank.
Officers attended and arrested the man.
While escorting him outside, a struggle ensued, and the man reportedly produced a weapon.
According to an RCMP news release, one officer discharged their firearm striking the man.
He was transported to hospital by Emergency Health Services where he was pronounced deceased.
