Aboriginal issues were the topic of discussion at last night’s All Candidates meeting.
With less than a week until the Federal election, Candidates met at the Native Friendship Centre in Prince George to answer questions from the public.
“We need to not only address that we have terrible completion rates for first nations students both on the reserve and within the public school system” said Cariboo-Prince George Liberal Candidate Tracy Calogheros. “We also need to really be talking about what the truth is and how we got to this point.”
NDP Candidate Trent Derrick agreed with Calogheros that education needs to be better.
“Greater overall education for first nations and also Canadians overall need an education of the true rich history of what first nations and aboriginals have brought to the country.” said Derrick
The candidates will meet again in Hixon Wednesday night to discuss the Agricultural Industry.
Election day is October 19th.
