Lheidli T’enneh Councillor appointed to Prince George Public Library board

Lheidli T’enneh Councillor Wendy Jael has joined onto the Prince George Public Library board as part of the organization’s newly formed cooperation agreement.

Members of the board are appointed according to the terms of the BC Library Act, which members need to be residents in the municipality.

The Public Library said in a news release the agreement required extensive collaboration between the City, the Library Board, and Lheidli T’enneh.

In the past, those living in the regional district, including the Lheidli T’enneh town site were ineligible.

They added the appointment represents an important step forward in its commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.

Lheidli T’enneh First Nation Chief Dolleen Logan said “The opportunity for a member of our governing body to join the Prince George Public Library’s Board of Directors is a fantastic opportunity to enhance these on-going collaborations.”
