The Prince George Humane Society will be closing out its first annual Tails of Triumph Fundraiser.
Tomorrow (January 15th), the month-long fundraiser will come to an end with a celebration at one of its facilities.
Executive Director, Angela McLaren says they want to encourage people to donate, with their goal at $40,000.
“It would mainly be going towards major medical care. A lot of the times a lot of animals come in that require major surgeries, and that is something that we don’t always have in our budget, and is something we have to fundraise over and above the revenue we get every year.”
This past year, the society has seen an increase in animal surrenders, while donations have hit a record low, and operational costs have continued to climb.
McLaren says tomorrow’s celebration will be a busy day of stopping in, seeing the animals in care, and possibly do some adoptions.
Anyone attending the celebration will have some snacks, have an opportunity to meet staff and people who have adopted, as well as the overall operations at the organization.
So far, the society has raised $13,000, with donations being collected until the end of the fundraiser at the Adoption and Humane Education Centre from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
