Number of files down in 2024 for Prince George RCMP: Report to City Council

The Prince George RCMP had fewer files in 2024.

Prince George City Council will hear a report from Prince George RCMP Superintendent Darin Rappel at Monday’s meeting, outlining the type of year it was for Mounties in our City.

PG Mounties had 42,577 files in 2024, roughly a five per cent decrease from 2023.

While the number of calls did decrease, the number of prisoners saw a 30 per cent increase to 3,853 and the number of charges forwarded to Crown increased 14.7 per cent to 1,928.

Additionally, the number of property crimes went down roughly 11.5 per cent to 5,126 in 2024.

However, assaults went up slightly to 1,027, while aggravated assault/assault with a weapon went down slightly to 382.

Rappel will also report on notable trends and events from 2024, such as the roll out of body worn cameras.

He will also give a look ahead to 2025.

Other items to be discussed at Monday’s meeting includes establishing the committee for the Citizen Recognition Program, and an invitation for Mayor Simon Yu to attend the Smart City Summit and Expo in Taiwan.
