After a year-long process, Tourism Prince George (TPG) opened the doors to its new Visitor Information Centre today (Tuesday).
The new location is beside the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre (850 Canada Games Way) in the transformed rotunda.
In 2023, the TPG Board of Directors unanimously approved the location after recommendations from an independent consultant which looked at financial feasibility, lease stability, public sentiment and supporting those who are likely to extend their stay in the community.
“With many conferences and events at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre it made sense to have the new Visitor Information Centre right there to welcome our visitors. We built on existing infrastructure and are continuing the work on the outdoor plaza to activate the area,” said Colin Carson, CEO.
The facility provides maps and guides, local hot spot information, and offers PG merch, indigenous art, and artisan wares.
The winter season hours are Monday to Friday, 9am-4:30pm with times adjusted for special
events.
The Grand Opening for the completed project will be held in the spring.
