Full service levels for domestic parcels back to normal: Canada Post

Canada Post said it has reinstated on-time guarantees and returned to full-service levels for domestic parcels.

In a recent bulletin, the postal company thanked Canadians for their patience over the past few weeks restoring normal operations following significant holiday volumes.

Local CUPW 812 President Rick Harris says they are still trying to pair down the volume backlog locally.

“We are overflowing. We are at Christmas volumes right now here in PG and I am assuming it is probably the same right across the country but maybe different places would have different results.”

He added the effort is being made by postal workers to lighten the load, but sometimes there aren’t enough hours in a day.

“The members are here, the letter carriers are out and we are all ready to do the work that we can do but there are only so many hours in the day. I think that is the struggle that we are as it pertains to members is the hours of the day.”

However, residents should continue to expect delivery delays of several days for Transaction Mail such as letters, bills and statements.

  • On-time service guarantees have resumed for domestic parcels and are in effect for items inducted as of January 6, 2025.
  • We have returned to normal processing and delivery levels across the country, including in rural and remote areas.
  • We continue to process accumulated domestic Transaction Mail alongside newly inducted volumes. Canadians should therefore continue to expect delivery delays of several days beyond our service standard for Transaction Mail such as letters, bills and statements.
  • With a significant amount of Neighbourhood Mail still to be processed and delivered, business customers should continue to expect delivery delays of several days.
  • While we continue to work through accumulated international volumes at a good pace, customers should expect a delivery delay of several days for incoming international items.
