Average apartment rent in Prince George went up $39 in 2024

The average rent only went up about three per cent in Prince George in 2024.

According to data from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the average rent for an apartment in Prince George as of October 2024 was $1,172, an increase of $39 from $1,133 a year prior:

  • Bachelor: $870 in 2024, $770 in 2023 (+12.9%)
  • One-bedroom: $1,065 in 2024, $989 in 2023  (+7.6%)
  • Two-bedroom: $1,264 in 2024, $1,218 in 2023 (+3.7%)
  • Three-bedroom+: $1,273 in 2024, $1,311 in 2023 (-2.8%)

For comparison, the average rent in Kamloops was $1,379.

The vacancy rate in Prince George also dropped slightly to 2.7 per cent from three per cent the year before.

Across the province, the average rent went up $97 from $1,655 in 2023 to $1,752 in 2024:

  • Bachelor: $1,456 in 2024, $1,358 in 2023 (+7.2%)
  • One-bedroom: $1,627 in 2024, $1,558 in 2023  (+4.4%)
  • Two-bedroom: $1,981 in 2024, $1,867 in 2023 (+6.1%)
  • Three-bedroom+: $2,474 in 2024, $2,146 in 2023 (+15.2%)

In Quesnel, the average rent went down to $1,009, a decrease of $78. The year before, Quesnel saw an increase of $313.

After seeing drastic increases the year before, the average rent also went down to $1,059 in Williams Lake. In 2023, the average rent in Williams Lake was $1,685, and in 2022, it was $915.
