Spruce Kings collapse in the third period against Surrey

A four-goal flurry in the third period proved more than enough to soar past the Prince George Spruce Kings 4-1 in BCHL action on Friday.

Will Moore struck first for PG at 14:10 of the second period on the power-play from Trent LeDrew and Brock Cumnings.

Jackson Anderson and Gavin Rocha lit the lamp twice on Spruce Kings netminder Dylan Johnson in the first five minutes of the third to swing momentum Surrey’s way.

Brandon Gill and Sihwan Kim added singles later on in the frame to ice the victory for the Eagles.

PG outshot Surrey 36-32 overall with both teams scoring once on two power—play chances each.

Overage defenceman Trent Ballantyne was assessed a five-minute major for an illegal check to the head at 19:42 of the first period.

Aidan Fischer made 35 saves in the victory for Surrey while Johnson turned aside 29 Eagles shots.

PG (10-16-3-1) falls two points back of the Nanaimo Clippers (12-16-2-0) for the final playoff spot in the Coastal Conference.

The Clippers defeated the Alberni Valley Bulldogs 5-1 on Friday night in Port Alberni.
